4 Books to Give Away – You Create the Blog Contest
October 16th, 2007 | 4 commentsI just went across the street to Borders to get a book and ended up with four
My plan was to get a damn good book and offer it as the prize for a blog contest, but there were too many to choose from so I just got the 4 best. But now with 4 books I’m struggling to come up with 4 good contests.
So instead of coming up with 4 contests, one per book, I’ve decided to think of one contest and you think of the other three contests.
First I’ll announce the books:
Hardcover

The 4 Hour Work-Week by Timothy Ferriss
Hardcover

Hypnotic Writing by Joe Vitale
Softcover

Permission Marketing by Seth Godin
Hardcover

The winner of the following contest will choose one of the 4 books as their prize. They will also win a copy of my Article Marketing Ebook “Article Marketing Domination” and $20 via PayPal.
So to win the contest you have to come up with a contest
If you had 3 books to give away via a contest, a series of contests etc. how would you do it? Comment on this post with your ideas. I’m not setting a time limit on this, but bet on it only lasting a few days. Once I choose the blog contest/contest series/idea that I like the most I’ll announce it in a new post.
FYI: Here are a few things I would like to increase as a result of this/these contest(s) It doesn’t have to be focused on all or even multiple points, but if the contest can increase one or more of the following the more likely you are to win:
1. RSS subscribers
2. Unique blog visitors
3. Blog Comments in general
4. Trackbacks and links pointing to the blog
5. Money in my pocket
not nearly as important as the first 4 though
Good Luck!!

Hi,
I see you are running a contest. You might want to visit the blog on my link. You can submit your contest for free, in your own words by visiting the link. I am actually advertising with Adwords so you should get decent traffic from this initiative, plus a link to your blog!
thanks,
C Fernandes

I would prefer PDF over a real book but anyway here’s my idea:
1. I would entice the readers to comment by rewarding them. Best by offering to stumble their blog.
I think you should give a little more benefits by describing those prizes a little more in dept because I certainly didn’t want to enter upon reading what you were giving away.
2. You should require them to stumble your blog and even bookmark it.
3. You could set up a rule that the first person to get the 50th(or whatever you want) comments win.
I don’t think many will create a post for you because of past experience and notice it on other blogs unless you’re really popular and huge prize.
4. Ask them to link to you in any of their post, in anyway.
You could inform those “contest blog” about this and do a post on their blog about it, probably cost $20-50. I don’t recommend it though.
Thats really all I can think of because you really can’t expect to get a huge traffic increase from this. Anyone have a better idea?

WarriorBlog, I’m pretty sure there aren’t PDF versions of those books. Here is my response to your numbered replies:
1. I’m not sure how that would tie into the contest? It’s somewhat of a good idea, but it seems irrelevant to what were trying to do here. Just looking for contest ideas right now.
2. That sounds like a good idea, but what would establish the winner? The most stumbles etc. I suppose, but that’s borderline spamming and could get my blog banned by SU and/or other social sites. It is a thought that crossed my mind though.
3. Great idea and one I’ve considered as well.
4. I had never even seen these types of blogs until the commentor above posted that. I’ll have to look into other similar blogs.
Thanks
