Big Blog Improvements Coming your Way

February 1st, 2008 | 20 comments

Blog ImprovementsOver the past week I’ve been working hard on new projects and reforming my current business model. As I stated a few times in the past few days I’ll be concentrating alot of effort on the foundation I’ll be using to build a quality, responsive list; the kind that doesn’t make you sick to read like so many do.

This is going to directly affect how I run this blog, for the better!

Along with the new blog theme that should be arriving soon you’ll be seeing more in-depth, informational posts on the blog. The frequency of posts will be lower, but the quality will be much higher.

The reason for the big change is #1 because I want to help you build your online income by providing more solid guidelines and less “rants” and “musings,” and #2 because I’ll be directing my list to these in-depth posts, much like Jonathan Leger does it.

I’ll definitely continue to concentrate on the blog, but you’ll notice the number of posts will decrease to 2 or 3 per week, rather than the current rate of approximately 6 per week.

Although I’ll continue to monitor my RSS subscribers, I’ll no longer be concerned with that number. I shouldn’t have been worrying about it in the first place!

So stay tuned for a drastic new look and a drastic increase in “educational” posts!

You take over the education…and I’ll hold down the fort for rants! LOL…

Looks like you’ve got your priorities in the right place. I’ll be looking forward to seeing what you come up with.

And I have plenty to rant about. I saw an article I wrote on Ezine Articles republished on another site today…but with all the words translated to different words using some sort of freaky script, I guess. THE WORLD IS FULL OF FREAKIN’ IDIOTS!!! ;-)

lol sounds like a plan Chuck.

I have to admit, I’ve been trying to post daily no matter what. It didn’t take long for me to realize it was a bad idea. Posting just to post quickly lowers the value of any blog with a sole author.

I used to look closely at my articles being scraped without my links etc. These days I just ignore it. When I see them it just pisses me off and in order for me to take legal action it’s just not worth my time or effort.

    Hey Josh,

Good luck with the revamped approach. Newsletters were once a popular item but all the brainless MFA autoresponder-in-your-pocket recycled trash has made me, for one, totally ignore the vast majority of them. But it sounds like Jonathan has something working for him and hopefully it works for you too.

    Terry,

I’m with you. The gurus became a lost cause to me long ago. One at a time, some of them were tolerable, but the JV crap is what killed me off. Everything became an excuse to push more products.

But, either Jon Leger must be something special…or maybe Josh just has a man-crush on him. Hard to say! ;-)

I couldn’t agree with you more!! I’m subscribed to one Internet marketing newsletter and that’s Jons.

A year or so ago I was subscribed to 20 or more. They started to make be sick, so I unsubscribed to every one.

He definitely has something good going and I’m going to try my best to achieve the same results by helping people to best of my ability and only giving honest recommendations when I find products worth promoting.

Damnit Chuck, you posted that right before I posted my last comment. I wasn’t agreeing with you about the man crush lol But I am infatuated with his marketing technique :)

    Ahh, just admit it. LOL…

Actually, I’ve been reading some of the posts on his site tonight, and I must admit…he’s really well-spoken and balanced in his views.

I think I’ll probably end up subscribing as well.

    Nice find!

A new theme, I hope it will be something fresh for us. Your blog is doing good and I guess these new changes will bring it to another level.

I’ll just wait and see what will happen. ;-)

    Wayne,

He’s actually not going to be doing a new theme. It’s just a trick to keep us coming back every day to see if it’s changed yet. ;-)

Don’t listen to Chuck, he’s just a bitter old man :) It’ll be fresh and unique.

Just you watch, Wayne. The next time Josh posts an article on driving traffic to your blog, that will be #51:

Announce an upcoming blog redesign, and hold off for months before releasing it.

Or…better yet, announce a prize to the first one to comment on the new blog design, and then hold off for months before releasing it.

And yes…I am a bitter old man. And proud of it. “GET THE HELL OFF MY LAWN, YOU KIDS!!” ;-)

I have to admit, I view the whole list thing with some trepidation. I’m so sick of the endless sales letters posing as helpful list e-mails, I’ve pretty much unsubscribed on every one of them. Even when I buy a product, the first thing I do is get off the list. Now, I do admit to paying attention to John Leger’s e-mails, and I think there is one more that I read, but that’s it. I hope yours is different, Josh.

Sounds good Josh–I hope it works out for you. I’ve been on Jon’s list for a while too. The one thing that really annoys me about a lot of lists is when they’re always talking about boarding planes or waiting at the airport or whatever. What’s the purpose of this???

“HI FIRSTNAME, I’m about to board the plane for my week long vacation to Hawaii” or “I’m on my way to meet up with Big Name Guru for a meeting in Tibet.” Whatever!! It drives me crazy. So as long as you don’t do that–I’ll be a subscriber forever. :-)

Seriously though–if you could throw out more information for those working in niches outside of IM that would be super-helpful. You do a pretty good job of this already–but just want to make sure you keep it up. I dumped a lot of lists because they were devoted 100% to people working in the IM niche which is not the focus of many people trying to generate additional income working online.

Anyway, keep up the good work. ;-)

Edit: I meant to say “throw IN more information for those working in niches outside IM” not throw OUT. Oops!

@ Chuck, you’re not supposed to spill the beans man :) That reminds me of the past contest. I’m still planning on posting a new contest, just behind lol

@ Allen, My thoughts exactly! Seth Godin says “Transform your Business by being Remarkable” and that’s what I plan to do. Starting another pathetic “buy this get rich, buy this get loads of traffic, buy this and retire, buy, buy, buy, buy” wouldn’t be very remarkable.

@ Amanda, sorry for the delay. I couldn’t reply earlier because I was boarding a plane to Hawaii. When I got there Mike Filsaime and all the guys wanted to the beach, but my Ferrari was in the shop, so we had to settle for a Porsche Boxer (I know pathetic huh?.)

Once I got back home to my mansion I was so exhausted I didn’t even get online. But now I’ve counted my money for the day and getting caught up :D :)

lol I know what you mean. You won’t have that with my list, promise! (I own a BMW, not a Ferrari)

    Josh,
You need to back that up with a picture of your HUGE fish tank, with the diver cleaning it….

Some may know what I’m referring to there. :)

    I have one http://ez-onlinemoney.com/blog/about-josh/

You can’t see the diver though. It’s too huge and he looks like a little speck :)

Nice! I have a small 10 gallon freshwater tank, but want to add a larger saltwater tank as well.

    Josh,

Look forward to your “revamped” blog. It’s all about the content at the end of the day. I don’t think you have to worry about your subscribers. The numbers are climbing up anyway. Good luck!

@ Allen - I’ve never done salt-water, but I want to in the future. They’re both alot of work, but I love every minute of it :)

@ Vlad - Thanks for stopping by. I’m headed over to your new blog now. It looks like the new theme may be up today. I agree it’s all about the content, but I’m a strong believer that the visual appeal can make a great impact as well.
