Comment Policy Updated - Use your Keywords!

November 15th, 2007 | 3 comments

Something just popped into my head. I use Lucia’s Linky Love, which strips the rel=”nofollow” attribute from your links once you’ve left 3 or more comments, so why not let you use keywords. Anchor text helps you and it also helps this blog if the site being linked to is on topic and the only reason I didn’t allow it before was because I wanted to know the name of the person I was talking to.

From now on, as long as you state your first name somewhere in your comment and the site/blog you’re linking to is somewhat related to Internet Marketing, feel free to use your keywords instead of your name when you leave a comment here :)

Hi Josh, I guess that makes sense. I’m thinking about doing something like this for my blog, although I may get people to use their names in the name field and get them to place context links in the comment itself. I’ve seen some sites which have a link button in the comment area to make it easier to do this. But I’ve got no problem doing this either if it’s appropriate. Nice move…

Thanks a lot. I think that is a real added value.
I started doinf this on other blogs without the nofollow tag. To be honest, I am subscribed to a lot of blog and I am now only keeping the ones that have both good content and removed the tag.

I am Olivier, btw. And my blog also uses Lucy’s Linky love, set on 3.

Hey Stephen and Olivier, thanks for the comments. I guess it’s just the norm not to allow it, but as long as they’re contributing and they state their name somewhere, why not? Glad to hear I’m not the only one who feels that way.
