New Update to Lucia’s Linky Love DoFollow WordPress Plugin

November 1st, 2007 | 3 comments

I contacted Lucia over at Big Bucks Blogger the other day with a request for a tweak in her great “Lucia’s Linky Love” wordpress plugin. I even offered to pay for her time. She quickly replied and turned down my offer to send her cash, but accepted my request to do the tweak, as she was working on an update anyway.

Many of you are familiar with LLL, but for those of you who are wondering what in the hell I’m talking about I’ll explain what it does.

Lucia’s Linky Love is a wordpress plugin that was built for those of us who are against using the rel=”nofollow” attribute in our blog comments, but want to control it so spammers don’t get any link love.

LLL’s most notable feature is that it nofollows comments from users until they reach a certain post count, which is defined by the blog owner in their “options” menu. (this blog is set to 3) But it also automatically nofollows all comments and trackbacks temporarily to give you time to catch spam and delete it before it’s followed and much more!

In the past LLL nofollowed trackbacks left by other blogs unless they had at least 2 other comments and/or trackbacks. What I didn’t like abou that is the fact that some bloggers may see that comments are followed, but their trackback wasn’t and trackbacks are much more valuable than comments when they are legit.

But now Lucia has added the option to follow trackbacks even if it’s the first time that blogger has linked to you! She’s also fixed a bug that was caused by apostrophe’s surrounding names.

LLL was already the ultimate dofollow plugin, but now it’s even better. You can get the updated version at

You may notice that the new update isn’t going on my blog. That’s because I’m lazy and haven’t upgraded to the latest WordPress. I’m still in the stone age with 2.1, but this gave me the kick is the ass to upgrade. Well not right now, but within the next few days :)

Thanks for the link! I seem mired in plugin upgrades this week! (Someone asked about an issue with Hide Sponsored Categories– which is the upgrade from HELL!

Luckily modifying LLL was more or less straightforward. (Even if I am inefficient.)

No problem Lucia, well deserved. This gave me a good reason to upgrade the the most recent WP as well. Good luck with the other updates, I’m sure you’ll get them going soon. If it were me, with my coding skills, it would never work again :)

Thanks, I was looking for this link. I am migrating from blogger to WP and I really want to DoFollow as it is a nice feature. But better is when people have to publish 3 or more post. I think it encourages people to subscribe to the rss feed (I know I do subscribe to it faster, when the content is ok that it).
