Are you Getting Ripped Off by Dishonest Product Owners?
July 19th, 2007 | 3 commentsI was just looking through the Clickbank Marketplace looking for a good product to promote on one of my new niche Golf Sites and I was surprised as to how many of these guys were ripping off their affiliates!!
Not all but many of them were capturing subscribers on their salespage, which isn’t a bad idea if done correctly.
Once the person opts in (I know because I opted in to a few of them to make sure my assumptions were correct) and confirms, they are given free chapters/info and then given the option to go back to the sales page.
OK great, nothing wrong with that at all, if the buy now link is still going to ClickBank!!!!
In the cases I looked into they weren’t! They were directing them straight to PayPal.
These idiots should be taken out of the marketplace but they aren’t. Instead they are getting free traffic from unsuspecting newbies that don’t know any better.
Bottom Line — Before choosing an affiliate product to promote, complete the ordering process. If they are asking for opt-in on the sales page, Opt-In to see if the final link goes through clickbank or not.
When you click the buy now buttom that goes to clickbank you should see your affiliate I.D. at the very bottom of the page. If it’s not there you won’t be getting a commission.

That’s some BS. Thanks for the heads up!
ClickBank should step up and do something about that for sure.

No, it happens quite often and CB is known for completely ignoring issues like this.
We just need to be smart about what we promote. In the end the idiots who do this will lose because those of us with the ability to send alot of sales their way will check it out before promoting it.
I promote very few CB products anymore. Too many issues as an affiliate. As a publisher it’s still a good place to submit your product, but as an affiliate, especially in the IM niche, it’s horrible.
I now request custom landing pages and/or the product be set up on Pay Dot Com when I find products I like and want to promote.
