Can a Newbie Really JV with the Big Dogs?

I hear so many "newbies" saying it's impossible to get JV's (Joint Ventures) with established Internet Marketers because they only JV among themselves and I'm sorry, but that is total BS!!

I'm neither a "newbie" or a "guru" but I have partaken in several JV's with established Internet Marketers that are regularly referred to as gurus. Dr. Ralph Wilson, referred to as the "Grandfather of Internet Marketing" has been promoting my Article Marketing Ebook for several months now. I've JV'd, in one way or another, with Dr. Wilson, Jeff Schuman, Ross Goldberg and many others. Most didn't even know my name!!

How did I do it? Well before I answer that I'll tell you how I DIDN'T do it:

* I didn't send them a pre-written, blanket, un-personalized email,  asking them to promote my product.

* I didn't  lie to them and tell them I was going to offer them the world.

* I didn't do a Google search, find their site and contact them the same day.

What I DID do is this:

* I joined their newsletters and read all the information they put out.

* I contacted them, more than once, but without pushing the envelope of annoyance, and asked intelligent questions and told them how much I enjoyed their tips etc. without even mentioning any of my own products.

* I established a relationship with them and helped them out every chance I got!!

* I learned exactly what their target audience is looking for. If my current product wasn't related, I moved on!

* In some cased I purchased their product(s). 

* Once I did all the above, I subtly mentioned "X product" and explained exactly what it was about in a very personal email. I didn't just say "hey, I just wrote an ebook about whatever, will you take a look?"  I explained it thoroughly and then offered them to either collect 50% commission, offer it at a discounted rate to their viewers or both.

In a few cases, I didn't even content them, they contacted me. One in particular contacted me after reading one of my many articles and found it very useful. He followed the article to my website then contacted me through my contact form.

So don't be discouraged by the big dogs. Most of them don't care if you are a "nobody" in Internet Marketing. If you go about it the right way and have a valuable product, you have a very good chance of striking up an extremely valuable Joint Venture!!!
