Multiple C-Class Hosting by SEO Hosting.com

multiple c-class hosting

I’m about to launch a bunch of niche sites and although some people swear it doesn’t matter how many sites you have on one c-class, I’m not taking any chances. It may not HURT you in the form of SE penalties but it surly doesn’t HELP you.

One of the most important things that I’ve learned in the past few years about this Business is that unique is better, whether it’s unique content, views or hosting.

I just can’t see ANYTHING good coming from multiple sites on the same damn c-class.

Anyway, back to what I put in the title.

For the biggest part of the day I’ve been talking to HostGator, who is the mother company of SEOHosting.com, via phone and online support trying to poke holes in their new service and I just couldn’t do it. It’s an Awesome hosting service!!

They offer the first service I’ve seen that offers multiple c-class hosting.

Now I’m no genius when it comes to the complexities of hosting so I won’t lead you to believe I am. But I do know the basics.

Your normal hosting company will offer three hosting plans:

Shared Hosting: This is the most basic hosting plan. You’re sharing a c-class with who knows how many other people. (bad) This is normally for people with one or two small, personal sites.

Reseller Hosting: The more common hosting plan for online businesses that do not run sites with an enormous amount of traffic. This plan allows you to set up separate accounts for each domain you have in your account. You can also sell hosting accounts (reseller). Reseller accounts normally (always?) share a c-block as well. Some hosting companies offer separate IP addresses for a few extra dollars a month per IP but in my opinion separate IP’s on the same c-class won’t do you much good.

Dedicated Hosting: These are the monsters. With a dedicated hosting plan you have your own server just for your site(s). These are normally used by those with huge amounts of traffic coming in, as they have much more bandwidth and other options. I believe you can get multiple c-classes for dedicated servers with most hosting companies but like I said, I’m not hosting expert so I’m not 100% sure how that works. (I have 2 reseller accounts and haven’t purchased a dedicated server yet)

And now there’s SEO Hosting: I won’t show every comparison I did today (there are a BUNCH of them) but I will say the prices aren’t much higher at all when comparing them to HostGators normal hosting packages.

SEOHosting.com doesn’t offer shared, reseller and dedicated. They offer packages based on the number of c-classes you want. These packages are pretty much reseller packages where you can set up different domains on different cpanels.

The benefits of SEO Hosting with Search Engines

If you have one site in one c-class and another in a different c-class, they will not be associated with one another as far as ownership goes.

In other words, you can link your sites that are on different c-classes to one another and the SE’s will give more weight to the linking.

Also, the search engines, especially Google, have some pretty intelligent algorithms that can associate sites with one another outside the linking structure so having your sites, or at least your main sites, on different c-classes will definitely help you out with the SE’s.

Aha… I had no idea this was all part of search engine algorithms. I’m probably screwing myself over as we speak.

It sure is but I would guess you’re not screwing yourself. In most cases interlinking your own sites won’t hurt you, the links just won’t be as valuable if they would be on a separate c-class.

But, if you have a BUNCH of sites on the same c-block you could be hurting yourself.

I just looked for a blog post Matt Cutts made about this but couldn’t find it.

From what I remember he said if you have a few sites with different themes your fine. But if you have say hundreds or thousands of sites on the same, you may be hurting yourself.

I see. Thanks for the follow up Joshua.

I have 15 domains on one that have linked to each other at some point, so I think I’m all right.
