Niche Marketing and the Importance of High Paying Keywords
August 14th, 2007 | 3 commentsI've dabbled in "niche marketing" for the past few years but didn't really get serious about it until a few months ago.
I started off with a few travel Websites that I put hundreds of hours into and I was pleased with their results. I then started a home biz site and several other sites on other niches. All of these sites generated revenue on a daily basis but I never really thought about creating loads of sites.
Then I thought "I have 20 some sites that bring in a few dollars a day so why not keep going?" So that's just what I did
The first "niche site" or "MFA (Made for Adsense) site I created, after those I've already mentioned, was a 5-page golf site. It's a "white-hat" informational site and I primarily promote it with articles. It's bringing in a couple dollars a day but nothing crazy.
Then I moved on to a Teen Pregnancy site. Did the same exact thing with that one and it's bringing in a couple dollars a day.
Then I started thinking about what my next site was going to be. I remembered always hearing that mortgage, real estate and debt consolidation sites always had high paying Adsense clicks but for some reason I never built a site around one of those niches.
I found a great deal on unique, customized niche sites for a VERY low price so I grabbed it and put up a mortgage loan site … It was a good move!
This site is brand new but it has received a few clicks, despite very little marketing so far. Out of the 6 or so clicks it’s received, every single one has been over $1. At least half of them were closer to $2.
Now I’m kicking myself in the butt for not targeting these niches earlier.
The moral of the story is this: Don’t bother with low paying markets. Get into those that pay in the $'s not cents!!
I have sites that generate over 100 clicks a day, but don't generate anything close to $100. If I would have targeted a niche like real estate I'd be making over $100 per site just from adsense.
Don't learn the hard way like I did. Do your research and you'll make MUCH MORE MONEY!!

Josh,
I was recently in a very similar situation. I have over hundred sites, some of which are VERY seasonal and get a ton of traffic, giving me a hundred dollars a day in click-throughs. Then… the drought. It’s no longer the appropriate season.
Now, I’m taking a look at some of the more “evergreen” concepts out there to try to maintain some consistency throughout the year.
