My SEO Quiz Score was Murdered!

September 23rd, 2007 | 12 comments

Yep, it was murdered in cold blood then kicked while it was down :( My excuse? Some of the questions were trivial (Who would have thought PageRank was named after Larry Page and not what seems to be the obvious.) and others had multiple answers depending on how you look at it. Well, I have to have an excuse right?

A. Marques of the Technology Corner Blog is the culprit, winning the $30. Actually, he’s not the murderer, he just beat up my score a little. The real SEO Quiz murderer was Danny from Blogs for Money who emailed me with a screenshot of his 93%. Now I’ll have to find someone to beat him. Maybe Andy Beard will stop by.

Oh well, it was fun and I learned a few things ;)

Congrats A. Marques don’t spend it all in one place.

If you haven’t yet, be sure to stop by his blog at http://www.technology-corner.net/

    Hey,
Not that I’m that obsessed but I like to see my name associated with money :)

By the way Josh, the plug in my post is now fixed… sorry about that.

And thanks a lot about this contest. Well, I don’t know if Danny learned that much, 93% is a real topper, but I sure did…

    Thanks for the mention :-)

I’m trying to put all that knowledge to use and bring in visitors to my blog, but would you believe that “make money online” is a competitive market? ;)

Good job I have the best content, eh? :-D

    Nahhh Danny, really? ;)

I can’t even imagine what it takes to get the top position in Google for that string…

Nor me, but since my site is aimed at showing people to use PPC and Affiliate programs, I’m not really going for that term (I know I wouldn’t get anywhere!).

I’m just trying to pick up the people searching for combinations of PPC and Referals (currently just Adwords/Amazon, but hopefully this’ll grow!).

No problem at all. Thanks guys for taking part in this.

It’s not that hard. I have the #10 spot (ez-onlinemoney.com) on Google for “make money online.” Just alot of article marketing and basic link building.

meh, same as mine. It’s just too bad I didn’t take a screenshot. :(

Look at what I said in the other post for evidence of my skills though :D

Rand has actually changed it slightly from the original, so it is really hard to compare.

I scored over 70 but less than 80%

Hey the ping worked ;) He must have made it much more difficult because I know for a fact you’re much more of an SEO guy than I.

Off topic, I believe all of my posts are now indexed and the main page is back on the front page of Google. My secondary keyword “make money at home” was at #11 for a day or two, but it’s dropped back down a few.

This link structure is great. I have a few other sites in non-IM niches I can do this with so I’ll see how it works out with them as well and let you know.

In many ways it depends on whether it is raining or not as to how many results are showing for various searches.

I actually did it on the day it was first released. There was a lot of controversy and I think 10 or so questions have been modified. I am not sure exactly what was changed.

Look up Vanessa Fox’s post about it on Sphinn’s greatest hits and you will learn something about SEO being a lot more “Art” than fact.

I actually read her post a few days ago. The first time I saw her blog I thought it was a joke. I found that post and saw it has hundreds of RSS subscribers and all kinds of comments. Creative URL lol

Hmmm, did you’ll read what she said about the seo quiz?

Yep, and she’s right. But, it was fun and there were some good questions. You also have to think of who she is and her background. Any SEO quiz would be ripped apart by her, Matt Cutts or anyone similar.
