The Best SEO Book I Never Paid For
January 14th, 2008 | 17 comments
I exchanged a few emails with Jonathan Leger Friday and we began talking about SEO. Jon mentioned a new product he had just released days ago called “Search Engine Myths Exposed.”
After stating that we had some indifferences in our opinions when it comes to Google, I read Jon’s free report. After reading it I had no idea why he said that because I completely agree with about 98% of what he says in this report and I don’t totally disagree with the other 2%.
In Search Engine Myths Exposed Jonathan expels many of the common myths that are spewed around the blogosphere and the WWW in general when it comes to SEO.
He explains exactly what myths are associated with Google PageRank, Duplicate Content and much more.
All of his theories are a result of extensive research, which he shows you for Free in this guide.
What I like most about this report is that unlike 99% of other SEO’s, Jonathan actually provides proof of his findings instead of relying on word of mouth like SO MANY OTHERS DO!!!
I’m not an SEO “guru,” but I normally don’t learn a whole lot in SEO “guides.” I can honestly say that Jon’s Free Guide taught me a thing or two, added several new factors to the equation of duplicate content etc. and seriously impressed me!
If you own any kind of site or blog I highly recommend you head over to http://searchenginemythsexposed.com/ and download a copy for Free!
This is one of only a couple products I’ve downloaded in the past, which I actually printed out and put in a binder. Outstanding product and it’s actually Free!
(I do earn 25 cents per download of this report, but this did not influence my decision to promote this excellent guide in the least bit!)

Josh,
Yeah, I liked it, too.
I would download it from your link, but I’m already on Jon’s list and already have it.
Sorry, man. Please don’t hate me!

Chris, too late, I hate you! Just kidding
It’s an excellent guide, glad you read it! Thanks for stopping by.

Joshua:
I’m on Jon’s list too, but I wanted you to have the quarter.
There is another SEO freebie I just read from Dan Thies at Seofaststart.com. He debunks several theories in his 100 page report. Some of it is a little complex for my tiny mind but it is well worth worth time to read.
Oh, and I almost forgot, Jack Humphrey who has the “Authority Black Book” as a free download. This is SEO and blog marketing for Web 2.0 . He claims you can learn all there is to know about blog marketing at his site, The Friday Traffic Report. You can download the Authority Black Book from the link at the bottom of JackHumphrey.com.
It will be interesting to compare all this with Jon’s info.

Thanks for the quarter, Steve. I’ll spend it wisely
I’ve read Jack’s “Authority Black Book” and while It’s definitely not useless, I believe it’s more for the absolute beginner.
I don’t believe I’ve read Dan’s freebie, but I’ve read alot of his work. Dan’s a pretty smart guy, as Jon is.
Thanks for stopping by Steve.

Hello Josh,
Thanks for the tip. I’m always looking for quality new SEO material to read.
I’ve also read Dan’s book SEO Fast Start and thought for the most part it was good.
Aaron Wall has a free search engine guide and some free SEO tools here which anyone beginning or intermediate in search should check out. The advanced crowd already know and read Aaron’s weblog.

BTW, Josh - why do you have a NONOFollow banner up when you no-follow all your links?
I think you are looking for the WordPress DoFollow plugin.

Hi WordPress,
I love your CMS
Glad you enjoyed Jon’s book.
I use Lucia’s Linky Love to dofollow comments left by legitimate commentators and nofollow those who are just after link juice. It takes 3 comments to dofollow. (it’s all explained in my comment policy)
14th January, 2008 at 6:31 pm
Thanks for the info on Lucia. If you get the chance check out this amazing Spanish film, Sex and Lucia<. Even better than the plugin.
For what it’s worth, there’s no follow still on your own name, so it looks like Lucia may not be off work yet.
14th January, 2008 at 6:33 pm
Yes the nofollow did drop. So everything is working.
Nofollow isn’t as big a deal as everyone makes it out to be in any case. Google does count no-follow links. But perhaps not at the same value. It looks like about a 50% discount to me based on real world testing.
14th January, 2008 at 6:47 pm
WordPress,
No problem. I think I’ll pass on the film
Why would I want to dofollow my own name and link?
I know it works, but thanks for the reassurance.
They may follow nofollow’s, but they don’t assign authority to them, which is what I’m going for.
Also, please read my comment policy at http://ez-onlinemoney.com/blog/comment-policy/
Thanks

Hello Josh,
Good point about not wanting to follow your own name and link.
To be honest, I think Google does assign some authority to nofollows. But by using them some of the time, you look like you are following their webmaster guidelines so perhaps they will cut our own weblogs some slack.
I currently am using nofollow to my annoyance. I will have to look at putting in your Lucia plugin tomorrow.
Cordial regards, Alec
PS. As you can see, I have now read your comments policy. Very fair. You really should check out the film sometime. Beats internet marketing hands down.

@ Alec - It’s always good to reward regulars, so I really like the plugin. Thanks for taking a look at the comment policy and stopping by
@ Jonathan - No problem at all. It seems we think alike in many aspects of SEO, although it looks like you do far more testing. Excellent report!

Just getting my feet wet here, wanted to let you know I enjoy your site and thank you for the information. I’ve run a number of businesses, online and brick and mortar, but have not tried my hand at promoting my sites in the past. Sounds like I have a lot to learn! I’ll be checking in often to read what you have to say, thanks again.

Thanks Chris I appreciate it. There is alot to learn when it comes to site promotion, but the more you learn the more fun it gets
