In most cases no. You have to have a good product and or content. its the same thing with websiets and or bloggs. IMHO there are some other peakpoints driving the traffic as well:

I think that knowledge is an important prerequisite, and I've seen very few sites that do well in the long-run without a solid knowledge base - but I don't think knowledge alone will cut it unless you're in a really uncompetitive field.
